The new Exusamwa record, Excusez-Moi!, is gaining popularity around Boston and I think it’s safe to say that a good chunk of this attention was gained through the LP’s album art. I couldn’t believe my eyes where I saw what their slipcase held. As the Boston Hassle put it:
“Exusamwa not only give you a record full of spastically challenging sounds when you purchase their new release but also a fully playable role playing game replete with a 36 page rule book and full color pieces to cut out and play with. My copy even came with special dice.”
I’ll admit I haven’t played the board game yet, nor have I read all of the rules. By my copy too came with dice, so I think we can confirm that you’d be in for that. From what I have read so far you’re meant to put on the record and play the board game as it goes along. I think they align! If I understand that right then this is going to be the most extreme board game. Excusez-Moi! has high highs consisting of piercing, poppy vocals from Angela Sawyer, and low lows marked by deep distorted bass guitar and synth. It spans genres from song to song and somehow pulls it off compositionally. I just hope I never land on Thank You Teachers. I feel like the hardcore parts must mean something scary.
